Introducing the New Poh Heng Legacy® Fan Series Collection

Introducing the New Poh Heng Legacy® Fan Series Collection

Poh Heng's heritage Legacy® line introduces its newest collection, the Legacy® Fan Series. Built around the fan motif and drawing from Chinese, Japanese, and Peranakan design traditions, the collection brings cross-cultural fine jewellery into a contemporary Singapore form. This article introduces the collection, walks through the range, and explains where to see the pieces in person.

Introducing the Legacy® Fan Series

The Legacy® Fan Series is the newest expression of Poh Heng's commitment to Peranakan heritage jewellery. The collection takes the fan, one of the rare design objects to carry serious cultural weight across Chinese, Japanese, and Peranakan traditions, and translates it into a coordinated range of pendants, earrings, and rings.

Where the broader Legacy® collection has long carried the Peranakan jewellery tradition forward, the Fan Series goes further. It is the first Poh Heng heritage collection built around a single motif at this scale, with a design language that reads as both heritage-rooted and unmistakably contemporary.

The Pieces in the Range

The Legacy® Fan Series launches with eleven pieces designed for women, across four hero gemstones and the pure-gold form.

Lapis Lazuli pendant and earrings. Set in 18K gold with deep blue lapis lazuli centres and diamond accents. The most saturated colour piece in the range.

Plain Fan pendant and earrings. Pure 22K yellow gold, no gemstone setting. The most direct expression of the fan motif and the closest piece in the range to the traditional Peranakan gold piece.

Golden South Sea Pearl pendant, earrings, and ring. 9 to 10 millimetre Japanese-cultured Golden South Sea pearls, set in 18K gold with diamond accents. The most formal-occasion oriented set in the collection and the only one available as a complete pendant, earrings, and ring trio.

Yellow Sapphire pendant and earrings. Yellow sapphire centres set in 18K yellow and white gold combinations with diamond accents. The most colour-distinctive piece in the range alongside the lapis lazuli.

Mother of Pearl pendant and earrings. Iridescent mother of pearl set in 18K rose gold with diamond accents. The most contemporary-warm piece in the range, drawing on the long Peranakan tradition of mother of pearl in decorative arts.

Each piece is hallmarked by the Singapore Assay Office under Singapore Standard SS581:2020. The pieces share a coherent design language across the range, designed for both individual wear and coordinated set wear.

The Story Behind the Design

The fan motif sits at the centre of three Asian design traditions. In Chinese culture the fan has been a symbol of refinement and scholarly cultivation for over three thousand years. In Japanese culture, origami brought a precise geometric vocabulary to the fold. In Peranakan culture, the kipas was a standard accessory of formal Nyonya dress, carried at family ceremonies and major occasions. The Legacy® Fan Series brings these three traditions into a single coordinated jewellery line. For the full design story, see our article on the Fan motif and our deeper piece on the cross-cultural inspiration behind the collection.

Hero Pieces to Know

Within the eleven-piece range, three pieces particularly anchor the collection's identity.

The Golden South Sea Pearl pendant. The most distinctive piece in the collection, combining a 9 to 10 millimetre Japanese-cultured Golden South Sea pearl with diamond accents and the fan-motif surround. Reads equally as a formal occasion piece, a meaningful bridal gift, and a milestone birthday or anniversary acquisition.

The plain 22K Fan pendant. The purest expression of the fan motif. Uses Poh Heng's traditional 22K yellow gold craft, with no gemstone setting, so the form itself carries the visual weight. The closest piece in the range to traditional Peranakan jewellery.

The Lapis Lazuli pendant. Deep blue colour with diamond accents, set in 18K yellow gold. The most colour-distinctive piece in the collection and a strong statement piece for both daily and formal wear.

Why This Launch Matters

The Legacy® Fan Series represents Poh Heng's most ambitious heritage launch in recent years. It carries forward a Peranakan jewellery tradition that has been part of Singapore's fine jewellery story for centuries, while introducing a design language that draws on multiple Asian traditions in a way that reflects Singapore's own cross-cultural character.

It is also a recognition that fine jewellery, at its best, does more than ornament. The Fan Series carries cultural meaning across each piece, with the motif's layered significance giving every pendant, earring, and ring a depth that lasts beyond the moment of purchase. A Fan Series piece bought today will continue to read as both contemporary and culturally meaningful for decades.

This is what a heritage brand at its seventy-eighth year can do that few competitors can: launch a collection that is genuinely new while drawing on a foundation that goes back to 1948.
